Domestic Violence Against Women

The ongoing conflict in northern Uganda has created a lot of human rights violation in the region. Most of those affected are the men and women in IDP camps. The women are especially at risk. The IDP camp indicates that women's health levels remain low and stagnated. There is also inadequate legislation that addresses discrimination against women. Customary laws and practices pertaining to inheritance, land ownership and matrimony remain disadvantageous to women. The existing matrimonial laws and practices discriminate against women's rights and are deemed unconventional and unconstitutional.

The Project's overall objective is to form and strengthen 12 (360pps) groups from IDP camps in promoting and protecting the rights of women.
